What is Facebook Business Manager?
Business Manager is a Facebook tool that helps you organise and manage your business assets (Facebook page, ad account etc.) Think of it as the Umbrella for all of your Facebook assets. Instead of everything being tied to your personal Facebook profile, it’s tied to the Business Manager.
This is a much more secure (and less personal) way to have everything set up. If you have employees or agencies who need access to certain assets, you can grant access easily. You can also easily revoke access.
This stops the common problem of an employee creating a Facebook page, leaving the company and taking the keys to the Facebook page with them.
Troubleshooting
If the instructions above don’t work for you, don’t worry! Facebook changes their interface (seemingly) every day, so it’s common for you to see a different setup. Here are some of the most common issues:
If you haven’t used Facebook Business Manager before, you may see settings for Facebook Business Suite. If this is the case, we need to switch your account to a Business Manager account. To do that, simply:
- Open Facebook Business Suite and click Give Feedback at the bottom of the left sidebar.
- Click Switch to Business Manager.
Get in touch if these settings don’t work for you.
If you’ve never used Facebook Business Manager before (common if you’ve run everything through your personal profile), we’re going to need to set that up.
To create a Business Manager:
- Go to business.facebook.com/overview.
- Click Create account.
- Enter a name for your business, your name and work email address and click Next.
- Enter your business details and click Submit.
To add a Page to your Business Manager:
- Go to Business settings. It looks like a gear icon in your sidebar.
- In the Business assets section, click Accounts. Then, click Pages.
- Click Add in the drop-down menu.
- Select Add a Page.
- Enter the Facebook Page name or URL.
- Click Add Page.
Once you’ve added the page, we’ll need to add your ad account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one. If you have one before (even from just boosting posts), follow these instructions:
- Go to Business settings.
- Click Accounts from the menu on the left-hand side. Then, click Ad accounts.
- Click the blue Add drop-down menu.
- Choose one of the three options: Add an ad account, Request access to an ad account or Create a new ad account.
- If you choose to request access or add an ad account, enter the ad account ID. Learn where to find the account ID.
